Search Engines
If you are depending on your website to get you business then you need to be aware of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). This means adding elements such as keywords and links so that the search engines can find your easily. Our approach to getting good search results or Search Engine Optimisation is quite simple and effective.
The search engine’s job
The search engine’s job is to deliver good content to their customer. If they deliver bad results the searcher will use another search engine. Here’s what Google says about its service:
“Our goal is to return highly relevant results for every query. Search results are returned from our search index. Our search index is constantly evolving as content is added and modified on the web.” Google
While there is a whole SEO industry ready to take your money for getting your site high on the search results most small business owners simply do not have the budget for this work and it can often end up being useless when the search engines change their algorithms. Here’s more from Google:
“The changing content, as well as updates to our ranking algorithms, can cause URLs to change position in search results, and possibly, though less likely, be removed.” Google
Trying to manipulate the search engines is a game that is not worth your money or our time.
Our SEO Service
The service we provide is to optimise your site by:
Adding an accurate description to each page.
Adding keywords in the hidden area or meta tags.
Editing your text to improve or correct the keyword emphasis.
In some cases we will create new pages for keywords to which you will be to be associated with in your site.
Adding links to other pages within the site and to other suitable websites.
People are looking for information on the web all the time. They type in text into a search engine and the engine goes looking for that text. If that text is not on a page on your site, your site won’t be listed in the results. For this reason you need to have a pages for each keyword (the text a searcher types into a search engine) on your site.
All this work makes it easy for the search engines to find the pages of your site. If you are looking for traffic from the search engines to your site it is worth considering this option. If the purpose of your site is just 'brochure site' where you and your staff will direct your customers to then you may not need the search engine option but in order to maximise the effectiveness of your website it is highly advisable.
Build a quality links program
The Search Engines take note of the sites you link to and especially the sites that link to you. The measurement of inbound links is one of the over 200 "off-page criteria" that measure human reaction to your content. In-pointing links are, in a sense, "seals of approval" for your site.
The more sites that link to your site (i.e., in-pointing links), and the more credible the linking sites are, and the closer the linking sites are to the theme of your site (even to the topic of individual pages), the more "popularity points" Search Engines award to your site and Web pages.
Our SEO service is additional to building a website so if you want us to optimise your site for the search engines let us know.
